Symposium
Guanica dry forest
As part of our NSF funded project, we will celebrate a 1.5 day symposium on "The Biological Impacts of Tropical Warming for Ectothermic Animals" in San Juan, Puerto Rico on the 1st and 2nd of August 2013. This meeting has also received generous support from the Center for Applied Tropical Ecology and Conservation (CREST-CATEC) at the University of Puerto Rico, and from the International Institute of Tropical Forestry (IITF) in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The talks will be streamed live trough the CATEC website (http://catec.upr.edu/)
The symposium will be followed by optional field trips to the rain forest on the afternoon of August 2nd, and to the dry forest on August 3rd.
We will be very lucky to have experts from different parts of the world sharing their research with us. Please see the list of speakers along with the full program of the event and the abstracts summarizing their presentations below.

Old San Juan
If you are a speaker, most likely you will be staying in Hotel Casa Blanca in Old San Juan. This historic beautiful city is located on a small island in the northwest part of the metropolitan area. This colonial city, surrounded by an historic wall, is full of very interesting places to visit: museums, parks, churches, castles (see videos below), "plazas", restaurants and shopping places. Best of all, everything is within walking distances (although there is also a free Trolley service around the city).
You can have a very good dining experience here. There are restaurants for every taste, and most of them are reviewed in websites such as "Yelp" and "TripAdvisor" and "Sal.pr". If you want to extend your stay, there are many options of hotels and apartments for rent. Please let us know and we will help you find a place.
